llr10.jpgThe 10th edition of the Little Red Rosette is back from the printers and currently being delivered to all residents and businesses in Harrowgate Hill at a slightly slower pace than normal due to poor weather conditions, but I do hope to have completed deliveries by Wednesday of this week.

If for some strange reason you have not received a copy by then, please let me know. Remember; you can always download previous editions from this website on the archive page and you’ll also find copies in the Premier and Coop shop’s and in the Harrowgate Workmen’s Club.

Fabric have now submitted their planning application

Longfield School
Awarded 2.9m plus 500k for a new sports hall

Longfield School
The Council heard officially today (30/11/09) that their bid for BSF (£57m) to rebuild/refurbish Longfield, Branksome & Hurworth was successful. Longfield School has been awarded around 15m for a substantial refurbishment of the whole school


Burtree Lane

Speeding in excess of 40mph has been proven here and the police have been requested to take action

Harrowgate Hill School
Set to expand by 3 classrooms due to local population growth

Allotments to expand
Papers are being drawn up for cabinet approval of funds towards the transition of additional land for allotment's on Ridgeway & Glebe Road

Cycle Path Bensham Road to Mayfair Road
Consultation set to take place soon

Safer journey to School
Longfield Road 20mph proposal nears completion - with consultation to follow in the new year

Bensham Park Play
Development set to commence in January

Harrowgate Farm Play
Council working towards adoption of area from developers

Bus Stops in Glebe/Mayfair
Consultation with regards to permanent locations to begin in the new year

Coop Deliveries
Agreed new later times have started

Additional Lighting Requests
Scrutiny are to look at council policy and determine a better way forward

Dog Walk Routes
Officers to find suitable locations for dog bins along Lowson Street and Washbrook Drive

Former Harrowgate Hill School Buildings
Darlington Homes are looking to sell this site with planning permissions

Ashleigh House
Undergoing redevelopment to cater for up to 30 residents with minor mental health issues

Grass Verges
Laburnum Road verge hopefully to be hardened this financial year

Drinkfield Marsh Digging
A permanent Stop Notice has now been served

Drinkfield Marsh Access
Residents have made further requests for this to be made more pushchair user friendly

Glebe Road Resurfacing
Should take place following any development of former school sites

Temporary Road Closure from 9th August 2010 for 2 weeks
At Thompson Street East junction with Wylam Avenue, Locomotive Street and Hercules Street. Access to Kingsway will be via its western side only. An alternative route for Thompson Street East will be signed via Salters Lane North, North Road, Thompson Street East and vice versa. An alternative route for Wylam Avenue, Locomotive Street and Hercules Street will be signed via Whinfield Road, Salters Lane South, Morpeth Avenue, Springfield Road and vice versa. The closure is necessary to enable road surfacing works by Darlington Borough Council.

Former Harrowgate Hill Infants School
Once owned by Darlington Building Society - Has now been sold to Walter Thompson who will be redeveloping the site.

Road resurfacing
I’m pleased to say the Council will final- ly be implementing road resurfacing work for the junction area of Longfield Road and Whessoe Road.
The work will take place during the school holidays and drivers are urged to avoid the area whilst this work takes place.

Rear lane leading to Bensham Park
Although the Council does not own this land they do have right of access over it. The Council will, in the near future when resources are available, put road plainings down to improve the surface

Harrowgate Farm Play Area
The Council has finally reached an agreement with persimmons with regards to the land transfer and once the paperwork is complete the Council will repair the play area. I'll post further updates as soon as I hear anything further
