Guy Fawkes, on the 5th of November, didn’t just bring explosions of colour in the night’s sky it also brought a carpet of potential colour to one area of Harrowgate Hill. The bulb planting event, as mentioned in the previous edition of the Little Red Rosette, was held on the morning of the 5th of November.
Major Bob, the Mayor, Cllr. Jenny Chapman (Cabinet Member with the Children and Young People Portfolio), Children of St. Marks pre-school, Harrowgate Primary School, Longfield School and I all joined forces to plant thousands of bulbs to help bring a splash of colour to Harrowgate Hill next spring.
Although the results of all the hard work aren't visible yet, come spring there should be some wonderful displays of flowers growing along the verge behind the iron railings on Salters Lane North, opposite the Harrowgate Workmen’s Club.
I’d like to give a big thank you to everyone, including Street Scene and our park ranger, who took time out of their busy day to help make this event a huge success.
