Elton John DarlingtonDarlington Football Stadium - JULY 5 2008

• Date – Saturday July 5 2008.
• Gates Open - 5pm
• Sir Elton John Onstage: - 8.15pm
• Concert end - 10.40pm
• Curfew - 11pm

Parking - DFC has negotiated the use of five park and ride sites, which are;
• Darlington College: 400 spaces
• Lingfield Point: 1,250 spaces
• Cummins Engineering: 550 spaces
• Orange: 1,200 spaces
• AMEC: 275 spaces
• There are a further 620 spaces available at the stadium.

For the target attendance of 17,000 it is anticipated that 4,250 spaces will be needed and a total of 4,295 spaces will be available at the park and ride sites and at the stadium.

Parking at the stadium will be £10, paid in advance through DFC.

The park and ride sites will be charged at £5 per space, including free return journey on the shuttle buses (not pre-booked).  The buses from town centre will charge the same as normal match days.

Disabled persons requesting parking spaces will be accommodated at the stadium, free of charge.  Parking tickets will be distributed with the event tickets.

Resident Parking Scheme
The resident parking scheme around the Stadium will be in operation from 4pm.

Park and Ride
Three separate bus routes have been identified:
• One to serve sites 1 & 2 (five buses)
• One to serve sites 3,4 & 5 (three buses)
• One  to serve the town centre car parks (three buses operating from one of the town centre stops)
• Arriva will provide the buses.
• Double deck buses operating via the A66

Neasham Road Closed
An application has been made to close Neasham Road for a period of up to three hours at the end of the concert (10pm – 1am).
• Park and Ride buses will be exempt from the closure order.
• Service buses operating on Neasham Road between Geneva Road and Brankin Road will be exempt from the closure.
• Vehicles parked at the stadium will only be allowed out once it is safe to do so.  It is anticipated that they will be kept in the car park until at least 11:30pm.  This situation is being widely advertised.
• Residents living in Neasham Road between Geneva Road and Brankin Road, in Railway Cottages and at the Caravan site will not be permitted to drive through the closure.  Letters are being delivered to inform these residents.

Event Signs
The most likely routes for traffic to the event have been identified and signs will be put on these routes

A66 Lay-Bys
To be closed in the interests of public safety.
