Dear [NAME],
Although we have 53 elected Councillors, each representing one of the towns’ 24 wards, there are just 5 Street-Scene areas; Central, North East, North West, South East and South West. Harrowgate Hill’s Street-Scene area is Central.
On Wednesday 7th November 2007 from 6pm to 8.30pm @ Northlands Methodist Church Hall North Road it will be your opportunity to take part in our wards ‘Talking Together’ session along with residents from Central, Northgate, North Road and part of Sadberge & Whessoe.
‘Talking Together’ is a new concept of community engagement to be established in each of the town’s five street scene areas. Each ‘Talking Together’ event lasts around two and a half hours. Services across the Council together with the Primary Care Trust (PCT), Police and Council for Voluntary Service (CVS) will have exhibition areas to:
* Help inform you about the services delivered in your area
* Consult with you about priorities and service improvement in your area
* Inform and consult on other developments specific to your locality
The last hour of the session will be in the form of a Question and Answer session providing you with the opportunity to question a panel chaired by a Cabinet member. The panel will also include members of Council Management Team (CMT), the Police, PCT and various ward Councillors. It’s unfortunate that as I’m on late shift next week I’m unable to attend. But if you should go along and had a burning question you were unable to ask… please let me know and I’ll make sure it gets passed on!
It is hoped that should ‘Talking Together’ be successful that it will be held quarterly in each of the five street scene areas but at different venues in wards within the Street-Scene areas to ensure all wards get to host a meeting.
To launch ‘Talking Together’ themed children fun events have been arranged with each child receiving a party pack. There will also be a selection of craft stalls together with refreshments.
Best regards
Mark Burton
